School’s Out For Summer…

…School’s out forever….

Well, no not quite yet.  Only one semester left (barring unforeseen screwup.)  But the summer is here, and that means that I’ll be posting more again.  So look for more regularly updates to what I’m doing and thinking.

Additionally, I’ve already signed on for a few more Freelance gigs, and I’m planning on talking about what I’m doing there.  So expect some requests for feedback on some of the work I’m doing, and look for a couple new posts showing the work that I’ve done and how I did it.  I’m also planning on writing up some short tutorials on how to edit code, pictures, and what the best hosting environment is for your online business.

I’m also changing up things a little here.  You can still expect to see random posts on Web Definitions,  Recipes, and other Random Thoughts from the mad mind of mercutiom.  So, while I work, research, and write up what I’m doing, don’t forget to browse through the blog and find the minute pearls of wisdom I’ve already placed.

Recipe Saturdays; Week 7: American Flag Cake

Ok, I kow that the Fourth of July is a little ways away now, but we did just have President’s Day on Monday, so I figured  what the heck.  Besides, it’s a great cake recipe, and there’s always room for cake (and this one even uses Jell-O.)

The Cake:

Ingredients:

3 Cups Cake Flour

5 Eggs

3 1/4 cups Granulated Sugar

1/4 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1 3/4 cups Butter, Softened

Recipe Saturdays; Week 6: Margaritas Fantastico!

I mean, really, what would a good Saturday be without some decent Margaritas? Well, it probably wouldn’t be much of a Saturday at all. So how do you make those perfect Margaritas like they do down the street?

Margaritas:

Ingredients:

• 3 cups Water
• 3 cups granulated Sugar
• Lemons (many)
• Limes (many)
• 2 oz. Tequila (I suggest a good High End brand)
• 1 oz Grand Marnier (optional)
• 2 cups coarse Salt
• 3 cup Ice

Recipe Saturdays; Week 5: Great Brats

That’s brats with a long A, like bratwurst, not with the short A like spoiled children with too many toys.

Anyway, the best way to make sure you have the best brats for your barbecue, is to start with the best meat possible. Much like the hamburgers, quality is (of course) key.

So here we go.

The Brats:

Bratwust (as many as you think you’ll need)

Recipe Saturdays; Week 4: The Hamburgers

Well tomorrow is the Super Bowl, and that mean barbecues.  Well, what would a barbecue be without some good hamburgers? I’ll tell you what it would be….a complete and utter waste, that’s what.

Now some people will try to pawn off those flimsy flabby thin little pre-made patties that they got from the grocery store as hamburgers, they’re really nothing more than a waste of time and money.

Real Hamburgers must be made by hand. Lovingly crafted from personally selected meat, and flavored with just the right amount of spice.

Recipe Saturdays; Week 3: Sangria

Well, I figured we already have at least one thing to eat so now would be a good time to break out the drinks. Having once been a bartender, I remember a couple of good drink recipes that will go well with our BBQ fare.

Sangria

Ingredients:

2 bottles red wine (I prefer Shiraz for this, but choose your own)
